Ridhima Jain and Lkisha Barnwal, members of the TeenBook Advisory Board (TAB), represented Indian adolescents at the PMNCH Global Forum for Adolescents 2023, hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO). Their participation highlighted the growing influence of youth-driven initiatives like TeenBook.

They moderated two impactful sessions, including “If only you would listen!” A conversation between adolescents and global experts on building resilience in an uncertain world, co-hosted by the University of Cape Town, TeenBook India, and UNICEF. This session emphasized recognizing adolescents as not just the future, but also the present, requiring immediate attention. Discussions focused on the need for quality education, open communication, emotional support, and positive parenting to empower adolescents in navigating life’s complexities. The session also highlighted the importance of progressive laws and policies to challenge harmful gender norms and create equitable opportunities.

In another session on Resilience and Social Protection, Ridhima and Lkisha addressed the challenges young people face today, including gaps in support systems, and emphasized the role of resilience-building initiatives in addressing these issues.

​Their contributions showcased the importance of including adolescent voices in shaping global solutions. By leveraging PMNCH’s global connections to WHO and other international organizations, their participation amplified the voices of youth worldwide. Ridhima and Lkisha’s journey as TAB members demonstrates how empowered adolescents can drive transformative change, advocate for meaningful policies, and inspire their peers globally.
