About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and impact-driven Program Manager – Health to lead the planning, implementation, and expansion of our health portfolio. This role is pivotal in driving evidence-based health interventions, strengthening community outreach, engaging stakeholders, and building scalable, sustainable programs that align with the organization’s mission and vision.
Responsibilities
As a Program Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping our health strategy, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring operational excellence across diverse health initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, cross-sector collaboration, and a deep commitment to public health and social equity.
Strategic Program Planning and Development
Lead the design and evolution of comprehensive, scalable, and sustainable health programs aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
Conduct health landscape analyses and needs assessments to identify key focus areas and emerging public health issues.
Conduct needs assessments and collaborates with stakeholders to identify program priorities.
Collaborate with the Associate Director-Health to define strategic objectives, program logic models, and measurable impact indicators.
Explore new interventions, innovative approaches, and under-served geographies to expand the health portfolio.
Ensure integration of global best practices, national health priorities, and community insights into program design.
Program Implementation and Management
Lead & oversee end-to-end implementation of health projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and achievement of key milestones.
Develop detailed work plans, execution timelines, risk mitigation strategies, and resource allocation plans.
Coordinate with internal teams (Legal, M&E, Finance, Operations, Communications and Design, HR) to ensure program efficiency and cohesion.
Lead the development of IEC/BCC materials and ensure effective community mobilization and education initiatives.
Identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact program success.
Manage program budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure financial accountability.
Develop and implement community outreach and education initiatives.
Create educational materials and resources, including IEC / BCC materials.
Prepare high-quality reports, dashboards, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including donors and government partners.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
Establish and implement robust MEL frameworks to track progress, assess program effectiveness, and capture learning.
Establish program metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess program impact.
Use data-driven insights to refine strategies, improve interventions, and support evidence-based decision-making.
Ensure regular data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings to inform adaptive program management.
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
Cultivate and manage relationships with key stake holders-government agencies, donor organizations, academic institutions, civil society partners, vendors and other stake holders.
Foster collaboration and partnerships to enhance the impact of health initiatives and to expand the geographical scope, visibility, and sustainability.
Represent the organization at key forums, policy consultations, and conferences to amplify the impact of DC’s work.
Team Leadership and Capacity Building
Recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of program professionals, fostering a high-performance and value-aligned culture.
Foster a positive work environment that promotes team cohesion and professional growth.
Facilitate continuous learning, skills development, and career progression opportunities for team members
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback and coaching.

Policy Engagement and Advocacy
Monitor and analyze public health policies, regulatory updates, and government priorities and schemes relevant to programmatic work and to create new opportunities.
Advocate for inclusive, evidence-based government health policies and represent the organization in policy dialogues.
Collaborate with advocacy partners and networks to influence systemic change at local, regional, and national levels.
Operational Oversight and Compliance
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and statutory regulations in all program operations.
Coordinate with finance and procurement teams for effective budgeting, procurement planning, and financial reporting.
Support internal audits, grant management processes, and organizational learning initiatives.
Other Considerations
As we increasingly leverage technology and digital tools, responsibilities will evolve based on organizational learning and innovation.
The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a readiness to respond to evolving public health challenges and opportunities.
Any other task assigned by the organization.
The present opportunity is for a fixed tenure of 12 months with a consultancy contract. The tenure will be extended based on the performance of th e project/personnel.
Required Qualification and Skills:
Ideal Candidate Profile.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in managing large scale health programs, preferably in non-profit, government, or multilateral settings.
Strong understanding of Government of India health and wellness policies.
Demonstrated experience in program strategy, stakeholder management, monitoring & evaluation, and team leadership.
Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills in both English and Hindi, with proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Proficient in advanced Microsoft Office tools for data analysis, reporting, and professional presentations.
Proven ability to manage complex projects in diverse, dynamic settings.
Deep commitment to health equity, community engagement, and rights-based approaches.
Master’s degree in public health, Health Administration, Development Studies, Nutrition or a related field.
Requirements
Location Flexibility: Must be willing to relocate to New Delhi and be open to relocation to other project sites as the program scales.
Analytical and Reporting Skills: Proven expertise in data analysis, data interpretation, and project report writing is essential.
Government and Grassroots Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience working with government officials and community-level personnel, especially in Mother and child health or nutrition-focused initiatives.
Field Experience with Women and Children: At least 5 years of hands-on experience working directly with women and children, preferably in the domains of maternal and child health, nutrition, or community development.
